Cost: FREE

Concussion

We all have a role to play in keeping our young footballers safe.

New concussion guidelines from ACC have come into effect at the start of the 2024 winter sports season.

These are designed to improve the health outcomes and wellbeing for all people who play community sport by introducing a standardised approach to managing concussion.

You’ll find ACC’s National Guidelines HERE:

Please familiarise yourself with them and know where to find them for future reference.
We will store these images and links in our Team Toolkit area (under the Coach and Referee resources menu).

2024 – Introduction to Junior Coaching course

What we have previously known as the Introduction to Junior Coaching has been renamed by NZF to “Fun-damentals of Junior Coaching“. This course is targeted for Fun Football Coaches (First Kicks, U7 and U8 grades). If you are coaching in other grades and have not completed this course then you will still find it valuable as a foundation before moving to higher coaching awards. Onslow Junior Football Club expects all of its Coaches to have completed this course once and are offering an opportunity to complete the practical component “in-house”.

This is an informative course facilitated by Capital Football, aiming to enable Coaches with skills to organise a safe and fun football session that players will not only enjoy, but learn from too. This practical course runs in conjunction with an online component.

Content covered:

  • The role of the game leader / coach
  • Introduction to football games and activities
  • Meeting the needs of junior footballers
  • Learner resources
