Training Sessions & Schedules

The OJFC have limited access to both the artificial turf and grass grounds at Nairnville Park.

  • All teams from grade 9 are expected to train weekly.
  • All streamed/competitive teams train twice a week (it is recommended to make use of Onslow’s Player Development Programme for the second training).

Your team coach / manager will contact you to confirm your training slot.

For those teams training on the artificial turf, there is an additional cost for training. This is a charge per player for the season and assumes one turf training a week. This year it is $20 for players in U7-U10. $30 for U11-U12. $40 per player for U13-U15.

Turf Etiquette

  • There are goals for use. Please ask your Grade Coordinator for the code.
  • You can start the training session if the turf is free, otherwise please stay off the field area until it’s your time slot.
  • Please move off the field area at the end of your training session immediately as the next team will likely be waiting to start their training. Have your team talk on the spare turf road-side.
  • Check with the next team if they want the goals. If not please put them away
  • And, if you’re the last team training please ensure all goals are placed back and are locked up
  • The turf should always be open.

Grass & Lights Etiquette

  • For those with bookings on Nairnville grass, please note the grounds status link below. You should check this after 1pm on the day of your practice to check the grass surface is open.  OJFC will get in trouble with WCC if a team is found practicing on the grass when it is closed, so please adhere to the council’s advice.

  • Grass is unavailable for any training on Thursday 23rd May
  • The switch to turn on the lights is on a pole near the fenceline. You can turn them on (GREEN BUTTON) as needed, and the last team there is expected to switch them off (RED BUTTON).
  • Note they’re on a timer, meaning you can’t turn them on at 10am in the morning or 3pm in the afternoon.
  • The lights are regularly maintained, please let us know if there are any issues.

Parking

  • At busy times there will be 40-50 players on the turf plus coaches with a similar number likely to be coming onto the turf. That’s a lot of people to move.
  • Please try and drop off players 5-10 minutes before their training starts.  This ensures they’re ready to start on time. These players need to keep off the main turf area so they don’t interrupt other teams’ training.
  • If your team plans to use the full hour of training (recommended) then please suggest to parents not to arrive for pickup until when training finishes or even 5 min afterwards.
  • NEVER park in the drop off / pick up zone. This is a great spot to drop off and pick up your child but they need to be waiting there ready to get into the car. Please don’t park there as you’ll be blocking others from dropping off or picking up. Try driving around the block if your child isn’t quite ready to be picked up yet.
