Our new marquee

Sunday’s G11 and G12 trialist’s saw the first use of OJFC’s fabulous new marquee at Raroa Park. It got a thorough testing, as did the trialist’s, in the wild weather. Our Marquee is the generous gift of Mr Medhi Zerhouni of Tommy’s Realestate for which we are very grateful. It will provide our club members some much needed shelter at tournaments and other events.

OJFC needs you!

Onslow Junior Football Club needs you!

The success of any junior football club is reliant on it’s volunteers. We are incredibly fortunate at OJFC to have a dedicated group who are committed to providing the best football experience for our kids.  We have a number of committee members whose children are coming to the end of their Onslow journey and we need to find enthusiastic people to replace them.

If any of the roles below sound like you, we would love to hear from you!

Treasurer

Onslow is looking for a new Treasurer.  This role is responsible for carrying out the financial functions at the club, including managing the payables and receivables, preparing the financial statements, bank reconciliations and budgeting.

Tournament Coordinator

This role involves coordinating and entering our teams into tournaments. The main tasks are:

  • Receiving or finding the information about the tournament and forwarding it to the appropriate grade coordinator for action
  • Liaising with clubs running the tournaments
  • Keeping record of team entries
  • Checking invoices and forwarding them to the treasurer

Grade 8 Coordinator (next year grade 9)

This role involves:

  • Coordinating and briefing parents on the teams and arranging coaches, pre season
  • Managing OJFC game days at Raroa Park
  • Communicating with coaches, managers and parents on events and anything they need to be aware of
  • The grade’s liaison point for the club and replying to queries

Grade 11 Coordinator (next year grade 12)

This role involves:

  • Coordinating and briefing parents on the teams and arranging coaches, pre season
  • Communicating with coaches, managers and parents on events and anything they need to be aware  of
  • The grade’s liaison point for the club and replying to queries

If you are interested in any of these roles please email football@onslow.org.nz stating the position you are inquiring about.

New look for Onslow

You will notice a new look for Onslow players on the football fields in the coming weeks.

We are in the process of rolling out new playing jerseys to approximately half our teams this season, as a lot of our current ones are past their best.  Due to the size of our club we are unable to provide jerseys for every team this year but will look to replace most teams playing strips over the next few seasons.

If you were wondering what happens to the old jerseys… we did not want them to go to waste, so we’re investigating the possibility of donating them to schools and clubs in the Pacific Islands.

We would like to thank Patrick Sawyer, our gear coordinator, and Football Central for their help with the new design. We are particularly pleased to now have jerseys specifically designed for the girls.

Here’s the Grade 12 Calcuttas sporting the new look – We think they look pretty smart!
