Onslow Junior Football Club changes

Hi all.

The end of the season is fast approaching, with only two weekends of football left.  We trust you have enjoyed it.

We would like to share with you some changes that are about to occur at OJFC.

Recent developments in the wider Wellington football community have opened up opportunities for Onslow in terms of reshaping its football development programs.

These include the appointment of former Team Wellington Coach, Matt Calcott, as Director of Football at North Wellington AFC (NW Seniors), and proposed changes to the Capital Football’s FTC program.  These changes primarily affect youth football, grade 13 through to 17.

As recent articles on the Stuff news website have highlighted, the transition from youth football to senior football is complex, providing challenges for young footballers and their families. We believe these changes can provide Onslow with the opportunity to support its young footballers through this difficult phase, an option we previously have not had.

It has resulted in changes going forward to the football programs currently being delivered by 2-Clubs.

OJFC and North Wellington Junior Football Club have made the decision to disband 2-Clubs as an entity. This will help provide the space for both clubs to put in place their respective football pathways.

However, this will not affect the availability of Milan’s highly popular football programs that he has made available to all junior footballers in Wellington’s northern suburbs, over the past 5 years.

Milan’s contribution to junior football in the area during that time has been, to the Onslow Committee, beyond value, building a highly popular series of programs, enjoyed by a fantastic number of kids in the area. This is in addition to his work supporting and developing our volunteer coaches.

As such, OJFC is committed to retaining Milan’s skills in our future offerings, and that he will make a significant contribution to what shape our football programs will take.

Details of his October Holiday program will be released shortly, Information on his Term 4 off-season programs, can be found on the 2-Clubs and Onslow websites,.

The off-season programs contain some exciting new changes, including specialist Goal-Keeper training, and a proposed new 2 v 2 Friday competition.

Registration to these programs are currently open, and, as with all 2-Clubs programs previously, there are no restrictions on who can register.

While we’re still uncertain what shape Onslow’s future football pathway from juniors through to youth and onto seniors will look like, we’re confident that when we do know, we’ll be able to share some exciting new developments with you.

See you all at prize giving on 27 August 2017.
